Product Manager

Tell us about yourself and how you came to work at One Door

One Door offered me a unique opportunity to combine my background in retail and product management. I worked at retail stores in college and my first job out of college was in planning and allocation for a large off-price retailer. Prior to One Door, I spent several years as a product manager in consumer electronics working with designers and engineers to solve real user problems. And now at One Door, I get to combine those experiences and be a part of a team that digs deep into user problems, solves complex technical challenges, and delivers a great product to retailers.

What types of technologies are you working with that excite you?

It’s exciting to see how AI and analytics can help customers do their jobs more efficiently and effectively. And with this information, the product provides a more personalized and contextual experience for the user.

What does your workday typically consist of?

There is never a dull moment! I get to work cross-functionally with diverse functions in the organizations. Working with our Customer Success team, I get to hear from our customers and users about how they do their work. With this knowledge, I work with engineers and designers on new features to even better serve our customers. I regularly engage our marketing and sales teams to develop communications and messaging to get the word out about updates to the product.

How are you adapting your routine during this period of WFH?

It’s great to not have a commute. I am missing the interactions I would otherwise have with my colleagues getting coffee or having lunch. The company has really encouraged virtual gatherings and setting time aside for them and treating us to food delivery services. With some of the extra time, I have been going to the gym and watching a lot of Netflix!

What are you most excited about once you return to the office?

The views… and being in downtown surrounded by great restaurants and museums. Of course, seeing colleagues in person again and being able to brainstorm in a room together. I miss whiteboarding with my colleagues!

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies that you can share with us?

I am taking golf lessons! Other than that, I love cooking, lifting weights, and traveling locally and internationally.

Cheryl M.

Sr. Client Services Manager

Tell us about yourself and how you came to work at One Door.

Prior to working at One Door, I spent 23 years at a major telecom provider where I performed multiple roles during my tenure there. One of these roles involved leading a team of device and accessory merchandisers using the One Door application. When I was ready to move on to a new adventure, I sought One Door and was lucky enough to be hired. I’ve been at One Door for just over 3 years now and it has been such a great experience. It is definitely one of my best career decisions so far.

What does your workday typically consist of?

As a Customer Success Manager, I don’t have many typical days. My role is all about building strong relationships with customers and all the teams at One Door. This means that on any given day, I could be in internal meetings collaborating on creative solutions for my customers or in meetings with customers to ensure they are maximizing the value they’re receiving from One Door. That value piece is key to ensuring overall success for both the customer and One Door. It’s not all about meetings though, as I spend a lot of time on data analysis, executive presentations and fine-tuning contract details including renewals and possible incremental opportunities – just to name a few more things.

How are you adapting your routine during this period of WFH?

I have been working at home since I started with One Door over 3 years ago, so the WFH thing wasn’t new to me. The change for me has been in the elimination of travel. A big part of my relationship building involved conducting on-site visits at my customer’s place of business. In any given quarter, I would travel 3-4 times and I’ve missed that a lot. The good news is I’ve started traveling again and I’m really looking forward to seeing my customers face-to-face.

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies that you can share with us?

I live in the northern part of Georgia on 5 acres where my family raises Cashmere Fainting Goats. We started raising them to keep the fences clear of kudzu (an invasive non-native plant) but soon realized they were super sweet and tons of fun too! If you’re not familiar with fainting goats, Google it. You’ll see just how funny it is to see them faint! And don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt them at all and it makes everyone watching laugh – and we can all use more laughter in my opinion. Oh, and if you’re wondering, we call our farm Tipsy Farm.

Pragya Jalan

Sr. Software Engineer

What are you most excited for once you return to the office?

I am excited to come back into the office and go out for quick coffee runs with my colleagues in the morning or being part of impromptu debates about random topics in the middle of the day - like what constitutes a sandwich!

What does your workday typically consist of?

We started using Snowflake and React at One Door. We are building out at an analytics platform and Snowflake is an excellent solution to achieve this. The front end is built using React, one of the many JavaScript frameworks we support.

Tell us about yourself and how you came to work at One Door.

I joined One Door right out of university. After graduating, I was looking for a software engineer position here in Boston. A classmate of mine from Brandeis University had been hired by One Door about three months prior and he really liked the company and felt he was learning a lot, so he encouraged me to apply.

What types of technologies are you working with that excite you?

I like working with data. Last year, we used deep learning (DL) data science models to build an image recognition system which was a very exciting project to work on. In order to build a new analytics capability, we are currently using Snowflake, which is a cloud data warehousing platform. Keeping up with and learning about new technologies makes working at One Door exciting!

How are you adapting your routine during this period of WFH?

Surprisingly, I have gotten quite used to it. Initially, I was apprehensive about it as I enjoyed coming into the office, seeing everyone and talking with people face to face. I liked the separation of work and home, which WFH blurs the lines between. But I do like that I can sleep in a little longer and avoid the packed train to get to work.

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies that you can share with us?

I like music and recently started taking piano lessons. which have been a lot of fun. I also love the live music and theatre scene in Boston. When things open up again, I’d love to resume traveling to and exploring new places around the world!
