Fast, Focused, and Floor-Ready: Introducing One Door’s AI-Powered Store Assistant

By Kelly Jacobson | June 4, 2025

BOSTON – June 4, 2025 – One Door, the leader in cloud-based visual merchandising software, introduced a new version of its Store Assistant, a transformative upgrade that further simplifies visual merchandising for store teams, ensures compliance, and improves sales performance.

Deployed in tens of thousands of stores globally, One Door’s Store Assistant is already a trusted digital execution platform for store teams.

Now, reimagined as a combination of generative AI, personalized execution workflows, and store-specific context, the new version better helps store associates do the right work the right way, every time.

An In-Store Merchandising Expert in the Palm of Your Hand

The new Store Assistant acts as an always-up-to-date visual merchandising expert, available during every shift. Instead of relying on static documents or waiting for managerial help, store associates can quickly resolve questions or issues using real-time intelligence.

Powered by generative AI, Store Assistant synthesizes all reference materials, SOPs, style guides, and other store-specific content and turns it into fast, conversational guidance.

Associates can ask questions in natural language and receive answers tailored to their store, their role, and the task at hand — whether it’s executing a reset, interpreting brand guidelines, or locating key resources.

“This launch represents the beginning of our vision for intelligent, human-centered store support,” said Prem Jacob, CTO of One Door. “By embedding AI that understands each store’s unique context and proactively assists with tasks, we’re not replacing associates. We’re amplifying their expertise.”

Additionally, Store Assistant helps associates capture, categorize, and address problems as they arise on the floor.

From missing fixtures and damaged signage to urgent fulfillment needs, Store Assistant intuitively routes issues to the correct internal team or external vendor, improving response times and keeping merchandising on track.

“This release is the first step in our agentic roadmap for merchandising in stores, where AI acts as a collaborative partner that empowers store teams to focus on higher-value work, solve problems faster, and deliver a more consistent in-store experience,” said Jacob.

Smarter Visual Merchandising for Each Unique Location

The new Store Assistant solves one of today’s biggest visual merchandising challenges: No two stores are exactly alike. Layouts vary, fixtures change, and local marketing and product assortments mean that traditional one-size-fits-all communication and task assignments don’t cut it anymore.

Based on One Door’s Digital Store Model (a dynamic, data-rich digital twin of every location), Store Assistant adapts intelligent workflows to each store’s specific environment. This ensures that every associate knows what to do, how to do it, and why it matters.

From reset instructions to execution support, every required task is personalized to reflect reality on the ground.

“Our research shows that poor in-store visual merchandising execution costs retailers $125B per year in the U.S. alone, but very often retailers leave their associates without the proper tools and training,” said Tom Erskine, CEO of One Door.

“Our new Store Assistant is the first of its kind that combines generative AI, structured workflows, and rich context about the state of each store to truly simplify merchandising work for store teams, and help associates quickly and easily deliver a great in-store experience.”

Beta trials for One Door’s new AI-powered Store Assistant begin in June with three Tier 1 U.S. retailers. The new Store Assistant is expected to be available for all new customers in August.
